Unreasonable parents... (bearded dragon issue)?

Ok. It has officially been 1 year since I first asked my parents for a bearded dragon. I have done the following:

-Told them that I will pay for everything it needs

-I got a job

-I wrote a 2-3 page persuasive essay

-wrote a long, semi-detailed caresheet

-researched for an entire year!

-cleaned my room

-I have told my parents that there is NO WAY it can escape.

-I have offered to keep it in my room

-I have told them that I will hold 100% responsibility for my pet.

-I have had 2 of my teachers call the house saying that I need a beardie to raise my grades

-Pointed out that I love reptiles more than life itself

-went to the grocery store and while going through the produce isle, I pointed out which foods they can or can not eat

My mom keeps saying "what if it gets out" or "what if for some reason you cant take care of it? I cant feed it for you!"

She doesnt understand, and I cant win her over. My dad thinks they smell, but I told him they dont. What else can I try?

  1. ive gone through the sameeeee exacttttt thing with my parents. except the whole controversy is over a snake, and only reason they dont want me to have it is because my mom doesent like reptiles. anyways what i did was just keep on researching them and telling them everything i knew about them and tried getting them interested in them. i showed them tons of videos on youtube, i showed them pictures from google, i bought books on them, i even got my mom to go in the pet store and look at all of the snakes, and she actually found them really interesting. this lasted about a year and a half and it worked too they are letting me get one as soon as we move. just keep on telling them about them and show them that you are responsible enough to have one and they will see that.

  2. I also want a beardie, but my parents said no and I understand why. If a young teenager (which I presume you to be) gets a bearded dragon then eventually you'll have to go away to school and leave him behind. Then he will become your parents responsibility.

There isn't any harm in waiting. That's what I'm doing, and in the meantime I am learning all I can about them.

  3. just buy the vitamins, and juvy bearded food. its pellots, you mix with water and whola a complete meal, i mix in the veggies also. this way if you run outa crikets they will do fine. so dont panic if you run out and give her a reason to say 'see'. so you get the vitamins, pellot food, pick up a heat lamp or two, the bulbs and cage and liner etc. just pick it up secretly piece at a time. put it together. now take her to a pet store for a stupid cheap fish, then ask to hold a dragon and show her. ask the clerk if he could get out, when he says no, remain silent till he leaves then tell her even the clerk noes he cant get out. best of luck
