I refuse to do your essay for you, however, consider that a social life is mostly a mental state whereas medicine deals with biological symtoms. How that mental state is effected depends greatly upon the biology of a person. Example: Viagra has greatly increased the social life of older men since the biological effects of the drug (blood pressure) allows for a more confident male performance during the social interaction. Depressants however cause a more negative effect since the physical effects of the drug (tired, slowed metabolism) cause less incentive for social interaction.

I'm not writing your essay for you, however I will tell you this.  

When you chose to practice medicine for a living, you can expect your social life to decrease.  While you are in school, no one but your fellow students really understands what you are going through, therefore, you lose contact with friends and family because they do not understand your plight.  You are usually so busy during your schooling that you do not have time to keep up steady relationships with anyone, this causes your social life to suffer even further.  Then, once you are out of school and actually working, no one but the people you work with really understands the horrors of medicine.  People who have never seen someone die can not really understand what you are telling them when you relate to them how bad your day or night was.  

While medicine is a very rewarding field to go into, it does have its challenges and down sides.  The effect on your social life can be one of the down sides to medicine.
