Unscannable virus/trojan?

I got a virus the other day, and so far i've taken care of the majority of it. The only problem i have no is whenever i do a virus scan or a spyware scan, it suddenly stops and goes to a new fullscreen window imitating a system error, sorta looks like an old school computer. It says that window has shut down to prevent damage, but when i press exit it goes away and back to the scan. I managed to catch the name of this window its called "Screen Saver". Anyways, is this the virus? Does it just get activated when its scanned? because otherwise my scanner finds nothing. Help

Do a system restore to a previous date that you did not have trouble with.

Firstly, antivirus programs will NOT remove these as they are malicious codecs, although they may find reference to them and remove it but upon rebooting it's back again

Disconnect your computer from the internet

Run vundo

Restart your computer

Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

Download, install, update, scan and follow on screen prompts.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

Spybot S&D:

Download, install, update and Immunize, then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'
