The TV is a Hitachi 27", Model # 27CX3B. Upon powering the TV on, the image suddenly flattens to a thinish horizontal line that runs the entire width of the screen. This line appears right at the centerline of the screen and stays there. The rest of the screen is black at this point. The line has colors and movement, as if the entire image is still there, just extremely compressed vertically. The problem usually happens within the first two minutes of operation, but has also happened randomly at other times. If you gently whack the top of the cabinet, the image will sometimes revert to normal and stay that way for a while, sometimes for hours. I am comfortable working with electronincs and dischargings capacitors, but I need some advice on how and where to look for the root cause of this problem. It is a perfeclty good TV otherwise and I don't see a need to spend upwards of $500 on an LCD for this room in the house. TIA for any assistance you can provide.
