Unstoppable Ajay Jayaram tames Jong Woo Yim in Men’s Singles round-or-16 at Vietnam Open Grand Prix

India’s unstoppable shuttler, Ajay Jayaram continued his winning run at the 2011 Vietnam Open Grand Prix as he crushed Korea’s Jong Woo Yim in the Men’s Singles round-of-16 match in Vietnam, on Thursday, August 25.
Jayaram, who has grabbed Number 29 position in the Men’s Singles world rankings, played stunning badminton against the Korean who failed to match the class of the Indian throughout the encounter. Jayaram, who is the fifth seed in the event, tamed his opponent
in straight games with wonderful ease by finishing it in just 29 minutes.
The higher ranked Indian opened his campaign in the round-of-16 match against Jong Woo in the most aggressive manner. He played fast badminton by finishing the rallies in a flash to establish his supremacy in the game. He was completely in control of the
game by dictating the pace of the rallies and kept his challenger working hard in returning the bird from the side lines of the court.
Jayaram remained ahead of the Korean who was trying to match the speed of the game but failed to perform well throughout the opening game. The fifth seed played with great confidence and won the opening game with a stunning difference of 21-8, by spending
only 12 minutes in the court.
In the following set, Jong Woo played aggressive badminton from the start and remained in good control of the rallies. It seemed that he found his momentum as the score was tight until the interval, where Jayaram was slightly ahead of the Korean by reaching
at 11-9.
However, after the break, the Indian injected more power and speed in his strokes to put his opponent on the back foot. He played wonderful badminton in the concluding phase of the second game. He spared on chance for the Korean at any stage of the match
to dominate the pace of the game.
Jayaram won the game in scintillating fashion with the margin of 21-15, in 17 minutes. This Men’s Singles battle ended in only 29 minutes with the win of the Indian who finished off the fight with the margin of 21-8 and 21-15.
