Unstoppable La Dolfina overpowers Pilara Piaget
La Dolfina Peugeot as per the expectations of critics and polo fans across the globe delivered a brilliant performance against Pilara Piaget in the semi final of the 117th Argentina Open Polo Championship Bicentennial Movistar (117° Campeonato Argentino
Abierto de Polo del Bicentenario Movistar) and acquired a slot in the final of the event.
The second semi final of the Argentina Open Polo Championship was played between defending champion La Dolfina (39) and Pilara Piaget (33) at field-2 Palermo Catedral, Argentina. Where the defending champions under the leadership of world’s highest scorer,
Adolfo Cambiaso, rendered an outstanding performance and thrashed the opponent team 17-11.
World famous polo player, Adolfo Cambiaso, was the top scorer of the team, who scored 12 goals of which 10 were on penalty shots. It was the best performance of Adolfo Cambiaso so far in the tournament, which shocked the Pilara Piaget foursome.
La Dolfina Peugeot: Adolfo Cambiaso (10), Lucas Monteverde (10), Bartolome Castagnola (10), David Stirling (9)
Pilara Piaget: Sebastian Merlos (9), Agustin Merlos (9), Santiago Chavanne (8), Tomas Garcial Del Rio (7)

The previous record of La Dolfina was quite impressive as it clinched the same title in 2009 at the same venue against the same foursome. Polo lovers and fans have had many hopes with La Dolfina for acquiring a Triple Crown in the most oldest and far-famed
interclub tournament.
The game started on a high tone as legendary Adolfo Cambiaso marked two goals followed by a solitary goal of Lucas Monteverde in the first seven and half minutes of the match and put Pilara Piaget under intense pressure. No single goal was scored by opponent
Pilara in the first frame.
The second chukker was even more striking as Pilara’s Agustin Merlos scored the first goal of the match, which was met by six goals from La Dolfina, of which five were scored by the fabled Adolfo Cambiaso. The duo foursomes moved forward into the third frame
with a 9-1 score.
Following the completion of two chukkers, it seemed that the match was over regardless of the fact that six chukkers were still remaining. La Dolfina was showing complete dominance over the game as the strikers of Pilara tried to comeback in the match but
to no avail.
The attackers of the Pilara foursome revved up and scored three more goals in the third chukker while La Dolfina could mark only one goal in the frame.
At the start of the fourth chukker, Adolfo Cambiaso scored two goals on penalty shots, while David Stirling marked single goal from the field and upped the lead of La Dolfina. Pilara remained scoreless in the fourth frame.
The fifth frame of the game was bit slow as both foursomes could only score one goal apiece. The sixth chukker was quite lucky for Pilara and they scored three straight goals and reduced the lead of La Dolfina. Adolfo Cambiaso again in the second last chukker
ruined the defence of Pilara Piaget and scored three goals, of which two were achieved on penalty hits.
The last chukker was opened with the classic pair of goals of Agustin while his teammate Sebastian also accounted for one goal. However, these goals could not save the Pilara foursome from defeat. La Dolfina as usual overpowered the game with 17-11 and once
again made it into the final of Argentina Open Polo Championship.
Top scorer of the match was legendary Adolfo Cambiaso with twelve goals, who displayed a classic game in the match. Bartolome Castagnola and Lucas accounted for two goals each while their teammate David Stirling scored one goal for the winning side.
Agustin was the top scorer from the losing side, who marked five goals while his teammates Sebastian Merlos and Santiago scored three and two goals respectively. Pilara achieved one goal by handicap.
On December 11th, defending champion La Dolfina will face Ellerstina in the final of the 117th Argentina Open Polo Championship for the Triple Crown.
