  1. Popular Mechanics had an article on ice ships a couple years ago that were supposed to be unsinkable- unless they go south I guess.


  2. i dont know if any ship would be totally completely unsinkable, once the hull fills with water.

    The material itself would have to be lighter than the water it displaces, so no metal or ferrous cement would ever be totally unsinkable.

    Wood of course but the fittings and other metal parts might offset the bouyancy of the wood.

    There are a lot of boats that are unsinkable, some canoes included but that is becuase they have built in flotation devices, the hull in any aluminum or fiberglass boat is also heavier than the water they desplace to strictly speaking they are only unsinkable because of the flotation built in, usually some sort of urethane foam.

Stabicraft boats are pretty much considered unsinkable, due to their aluminium pontoons which are sealed off in sections around the boat.  You can pretty much  fill the boat up with water, and it still won't sink, and you would have to puncture quite a few of the individual chambers to even have a hope of sinking it.
