Question:

Unsure about getting pregnant after my miscarriage?

i was eight weeks pregnant when i started bleeding on

Monday july 7th, after tests i discovered that it was a miscarriage,

and the bleeding ended on, Sunday July 13th.

the doctor said i should get a period within 4-6 weeks after the miscarriage, is it 4-6 weeks after the first day of bleeding or the last?

I know it's possible to become pregnant before my first period after my miscarriage, if so does anyone know roughly when my ovulation would occur during this period, and when is the best time to take a home pregnancy test?

I would really appreciate any help or advice you could offer

thank you so much x

  1. I have had 3 miscarriages.  It will be 4-6 weeks before the first date.  I only once had it start exactly 4 weeks after the first day.  One other time it was closer to 6.  The last time, it actually never started, but I had gotten pregnant again.  I was supposed to start my period again Mid August of last year, which would have been 6 weeks out.  I never did.  I discovered that at the beginning of August I had gotten pregnant.  I waited until the beginning September to take a pregnancy test.  I had heard of women who went a few months without a period, so I didn't think anything of it.  I suggest that if you have gone 6 weeks since the last day of bleeding, you may want to take a pregnancy test for your own peace of mind.  Good luck!

  2. First off, sorry about your lose.  I too had a miscarriage recently at 8 wks.  I just finished taking provera to induce my period since it's been 11wks since my d&c and still no period.  I'm very very irregular and have to take clomid to assist in ovulating.  Your body just might take longer to get back on track and start periods again.  If you're unsure, then take a test but it's probably just your body taking time to heal.  Good luck
