We purchased 2 new rats from the pet store last week. The one is quite bigger than the other and we have no idea how old she is. The pet store didn't give us an age range and we like to at least know how old our pets are so I was wondering if you can maybe help me with an estimate of how old our Misty is:

  1. she looks like she might be between 4 to 6 months old but its hard to tell.

  2. Unfortunately, there really isn't a reliable way to determine age in rats.  Rats are juveniles until around 4-6 months and usually live to be about 2-4 years (more frequently to just 2).

It's hard to tell in your pictures how old the rat is, though she looks young-ish so I would say probably around 3-6 months.  That really is a guess though.

If you need more information on rats these are some great sites:

    Hope that helps!

  3. She is very cute congratulations on the new rat. But any ways she looks to be about 3-6 months of age.

  4. 3-6 years old
