  1. I would say before the sun dims any, maybe not past 6 esp. if you are alone!

  2. The time it becomes unsafe to swim in the Pacific is the time you drown.  All other times it is safe.  That is true of pools, too.  It does not matter if it is night as long as you come back.  However, since no one can see you at night, you might not want to take that chance.

Where are you going swimming?  If you are in Patagonia, it is NEVER safe to swim there.  If you are in Santa Cruz, CA, it is almost always safe unless there is a storm coming in.  If you are a lousy swimmer, it is NEVER safe to swim no matter what time it is.  If the beach is steep, it isn't safe because the water rushes out so fast it can drag you out.  However, the beaches near San Luis Obispo, or Redondo (all in CA) are very flat.  But, if you don't know how to swim, it doesn't matter how flat as you're always in danger.

OH ... and remember, wait 30 minutes until after you eat or you'll drown!!  LOL ... Ever wonder what happens if you go in at 29 minutes??????  YOU DROWN!!  Just kidding ... it doesn't effect you.
