I'm looking for recipes for normal everyday items that have unusual ingredients. Like, I already have the fudge recipe that calls for Velveeta. I'm looking for more "unusual" ideas...

  1. Black Bean Brownies

    1 box brownie mix

    1 can (15 oz) black beans

    Open the can of black beans, rinse well. With beans back in the can, add enough water to cover beans. Put in blender or food processor and puree. Add puree to brownie mix, and then bake according to package directions.

    You DO NOT add the eggs or oil that the recipe calls for, JUST the black bean puree!

    Makes 20 brownies

    Actually beer has been used for cooking for centuries but it has lost its popularity until just recently.

  3. 1 box low fat brownie mix

    1 can pumpkin

    Nothing else.  Mix together and bake according to directions on package.

    serving size: 1.000 meringue,,

    2 large egg whites, room temperature,,

    1/8 tsp salt,

    1/2 tsp vanilla extract,

    1/4 tsp cream of tartar,

    2 Tbsp cocoa powder,

    1/2 cup sugar,,

    directions:

    preheat oven 225 degrees F (110 degrees C). spray baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray. In a clean,,, dry bowl beat egg whites with an electric mixer set on high until egg whites turn foamy. add cream of tartar and salt and continue beating. gradually add half the sugar. mix cocoa powder with remaining sugar and add cocoa-sugar mixture to egg whites and continue mixing until stiff peaks form. add vanilla and beat just enough to mix it in. spoon batter onto baking sheet and bake for one hour or until maringues are firm and turn brown. cool on wire rack and enjoy,,,
