  1. Totally up to the parent. My daughters name is Ember Lynn. It's the name my husband picked. It has turn a few heads and people have said it was stupid. I think as long as you love your child tell everyone else to mind there own business.

  2. Unusual names are better.

  3. I like different names. Most people don't like my kids names because they rhyme and are over used. But I relly don't care I like them and they fit my kids very well!

    Keegan Edward(boy)

    Haiden Kae(girl)

    Tailynn Gabrielle(girl)

  4. I like the traditionally uncommon names. I like old fashioned names you don't here very often!

  5. I would choose an unusual but not a freaky unusual one that would have people raising their eyebrows, hanging their jaws and asking WHAT??

A sensible sounding and having a nice meaning name would do :)

You would like to hear comments like..."thats such a nice/beautiful name... i havent heard before."

  6. I love the names Emily and Brianna, which are traditional. I also like the name Shayla which isn't traditional, but not totally unusual.

I also like Caleb and Matthew, but I also like Miloh and Tyson.

But Miloh and Tyson aren't that unusal, compared to some other names people use.

So, I guess I like more traditional names.

  7. i enjoy a healthy helping of everything really.

i love classic names like Victoria and Elizabeth.

popular names like Emma and Olivia.

trendy names like Harper and Peyton.

unusual names like Tessica and Ayla.

    and other names too.

i find that if you mix one modern name w/one classic name you get a better combo than say two overused modern names.

or if you like unusual names pair it w/something classic and you usually get a very powerful name combo.

i mix and match! i love it!

  8. I like names that aren't common, but when they get to out there I feel bad for the kid having to live with it. I think it is cool to have a un-common name.

  9. I like both, When my husband and I have children we're doing a combination of both:) Our  Girl names are: Marissa Raine and Leighanne Patricia. Our boy names are : Jonathan William Brice and Joseph James. I also like Traditional names spelled uniquely

  10. Well, I like both, but I would go with a unique name. Like my name is Geri and I am a girl. I have never met another Geri, so that's kinda nice.

  11. TRADITIONAL, BY FAR

  12. Depends how it sounds. There are some really nice unusual names and there are some that makes one wonder about parents sanity. Sacura is a nice unusual name for a girl for instance, but I've heard someone call their daughter Turbine and I think that's just asking for issues.

  13. I'm more of a fan of traditional names.  But there are some less common names I like as well. I hate trendy names like Hayden, Caedon, Braeden, Jaydon, Jayda, Kaylie, Rilee, and Haylee.

  14. unusual names, but not too unusual like apple or anything weird like that.

  15. I LOVE traditional names.  I think you find many more "modern" names because ppl wanting to pick traditional names don't even need to bother to come on here.  They already know it's going to work

    My favorites are:

    Miriam

    Helen

    Elisabeth

    Sarah

    David

    James

    Adam

    Joseph

    John

  16. I like traditional names a lot more. I like them to have a very good meaning and be special, most of the names I like are after family members. One of my sisters, however, loves names that are out there. My family always has to get use to them when she's deciding what to name her kids (she has 2 right now). I don't mind when people choose more unusual names, as it is their children, but I'm majoring in education and when I went to a school and mispronounced names that were unusual the kids just had to correct me. I feel bad because I don't want to say their name wrong but there are so many strange ones out there!

  17. A combination of both.

I love the name Scarlet, but I also like Talia. I don't like *really* out there name like Xanthe or Artemis but I also don't like Abigail or Jean.

  18. I definitely more of a traditional namer. Some names I like are a little unusual but I would never actually use it on a child.

I think people get caught up in their own selfish desires when naming their children. They want to be different and cool and they end up seeming illiterate and causing problems for their kids.

They also seem to overlook the fact that they are naming a person not a baby. What is cute for a 1 year old or even a 10 year old isn't always cute for a professional 30 year old.

A name is something that is with someone for ever and is one of the first things people ask when meeting and getting to know one another.

It is a huge responsibility for parents to choose a name that will server their child well for their entire lives and should be taken that way.

  19. traditional.

  20. more traditional without needing to be ancient. just as long as you can tell the s*x of the person from the name in most cases. Nothing stupid like Apple or Brooklyn......thats just mental.

  21. unusual

  22. Traditional

  23. I love traditional names. I also like middle names to be handed down in the family within reason. These days people try to be different by picking unusual names and end up with kids that have the same names as everyone else cos everyone is trying to be different. Your more likely to be different if you pick a traditional one. Know what I mean?

  24. Traditional.  I've seen so many little kids having problems with their names...being teased, having to correct the spelling all the time, correcting pronunciations....

It's a pain for them.  Having a more creative middle name can be a solution, but most ppl don't go with that as an option.

  25. It doesn't have to be one or the other. There are plenty of names that aren't traditional, but not really unusual, either. I've always liked the names Kelise and Alayna for girls, for example.

  26. Traditional!!!!

  27. Traditional, no need for your child to stand out. Unless it's really positive.

  28. Traditional. Kids with Unusual names get trashed in school and it makes you want to thank your parents for giving you a normal name.

  29. Unusual names. I like traditional names ok, but unusual names are very unique. You should go with what you like.
