Unveiling The Voyage Of 300 Grand Prixs’ Of Rubens Barrichello
It had been a long journey with many ups and downs but he kept moving on with the Formula One caravan and finally in Hockenheim at the German Grand Prix last Sunday the Williams’ driver, Rubens Barrichello completed three hundred Grand Prixs’ of his career.
Of course, it was a day of celebration and jubilation but above all it was a day that flooded with memories, both bitter and sweet. There were flashes of days that were filled with pride and excitement, the pleasure of being on the podium, of winning races and the evenings of festivity and joy. Nonetheless there were other memories of being down and disappointed after having faced criticism and disapproval, being condemned and left out and much more....
As the Spanish racer talked to the Formula One official website he proclaimed that the journey of these years is overflowing with so many emotions and experiences that it would be impossible to bring out all.
He explained that at times he thinks he has seen it all and done it all but still there are times when one thinks he is still learning as there is so much in the sport and things keep changing so rapidly all the time that one gets surprised every now and then.
While talking about his journey through the years of Formula One, the world of racing, and the world of speed and acceleration where things move faster than one could think of, he told that he had always been trying to catch up with the revolutions that keep taking place here for which sometimes he succeeds and at other times he simply cannot.
He told that he had raced a large variety of cars ranging from the Jordan of the mid 90s to the Ferrari from 2000 to 2005 as well as Honda and then the Brawn and now finally the Williams. He doubted if any of the other current drivers have witnessed as much as he had.
While talking about the on track changes he told that there are some that he had liked and others that he very much disliked for example he thought that moving towards the grooved tyres was a very wrong decision and similarly there had been several other moments when he was unable to digest the changes.
When asked about his relation with different teams he had been with as well as his teammates, he told that he has normally had been at good terms which is because he is usually soft with criticism. He added that as he wakes up every morning he makes himself ready to solve problems of the day and for that he prefers not to ‘bark’ at anyone in public as it could never make the relationship any better rather problems are fixed only by being gentle in a more grownup way.
Towards the end, when he was asked about his current team as well as his relation with the rookie team mate Nico Hulkenberg, for both he told that they are ‘pretty well’. For Nico he explained that he is coping with all the pressure on him brilliantly.
He added happily that the morale of the team is high and he hopes that as the races keep unfolding they will be more competitive and by the time they reach for next season they will be much faster.
He unveiled the future plans of the team telling that there will be some upgrades introduced at the next couple of races, as they have great plans for Spa and then some more in the later races.
He concluded saying that his 300th Grand Prix with the series had been brilliant and he is looking forward for many more; even better in the future as well, especially he is hoping to see an excellent 2011 season with the same team.
