Up State Senior Badminton Championships: Sara Naqvi stuns Sanchali Das Gupta to snatch title
India’s talented young shuttler Sara Naqvi stole the limelight by playing remarkable badminton as she grabbed Women’s Singles title after stunning her higher ranked compatriot Sanchali Das Gupta in the final contest at the Up State Senior Badminton Championships
in India, on Sunday, August 26.
The impressive Sara, who was un-seeded player in Women’s Singles main draw of the tournament, played with precision and confidence throughout the competition and continued her winning run in the final battle when she toppled the top seed Sanchali in an emphatic
manner.
Sara, who was underdog in the final battle, played to her maximum potential while remaining focused and confident on court and remained successful in beating her team-mate in straight games without showing her any mercy.
On the other hand, the top seeded Sanchali failed to live up to expectations as she did not expect such a punishing treatment from her lower ranked opponent.
The higher ranked Sanchali could not put up strong resistance throughout the match and easily lost it with a humiliating score on the board.
The incredible Sara played attacking badminton by maintaining her control over the pace of rallies and easily built up a wonderful lead at the early stage.
She was in tremendous form on court as she took the bird early and executed powerful shots quite accurately. Until the mid-game interval, the un-seeded Sara was leading the score board with a huge difference.
After the break, Sara continued her roller-coaster performance without facing any interruption on court and eventually remained successful in finishing off the first set with a fabulous 21-13 score on the board.
In the second set, the top seeded Sanchali tried to play positive badminton but failed to control the aggression of her opponent and remained struggling to find a good tempo.
In the meanwhile, Sara remained calm and composed on court and played impressive badminton to set up a wonderful lead until the interval.
After the break, the incredible Sara continued her stunning performance without showing any respect to her challenger and ended the game with a thrashing difference of 21-12.
The in-form Sara finished off the title match in just 30 minutes with a smashing 21-13 and 21-12 score on the board.
