Up To Something eying an upset in Mitie Kennel Gate Novices´ Hurdle Grade 2
Up To Something could spring up a surprise in the Mitie Kennel Gate Novices´ Hurdle Grade 2 at Ascot in England on Friday, December 21, 2012. He will have to overcome the challenge from three other quality stallions in order to make his team proud.
The competition in the class-1 event will be an interesting one, as the bookies have shown full confidence in the abilities of Puffin Billy, who is new to the sport, but has maintained a 100 percent winning record until now.
He has been given a general starting price of 8 to 15, which suggests that he is expected to deliver a thumping performance in the 2 mile event, scheduled to kick off at 13:55 GMT. A victory will earn him a cash prize of £17,085 in the end.
However, things will not be easy for him too, as the conditions at Ascot are not ideal for racing. There has been a lot of rain at this venue, which has made the going heavy. Therefore, the stamina of every contestant will be tested over 2 miles.
The organisers have been trying very hard to keep things under control, but they seem to be helpless against the weather. They will be hoping that the temperatures rise before start of action in the race, so that none of the participants withdraw from the
competition.
Although, the punters will risk the maximum number of bets on Puffin Billy, they will have to look at a couple of other options as well. They do have a solid chance of winning some easy money today, but should not take any major risks.
Therefore, it will be a good idea to place a few bets in favour of someone like Up To Something, who has been priced 6 to 1 by the bookmakers. He has got the ability to be competitive at this level and his fans will be backing him up at Ascot.
The Charlie Longsdon’s trainee has appeared in a total of three hurdles, winning one of them whereas finished as a runner up on the same number of times.
Moreover, he will like the wet ground, so he will not make life easy for his opponents under jockey, Noel Fehily.
