Up in trip, Greenlaw to show encouraging effort in Cheviot Asset Handicap Hurdle at Kempton
Greenlaw was not disgraced on his first outing for new connections at the start of this month. The 6-year-old joined Charlie Longsdon’s yard at the end of October, and came out to the field right after a few days of training.
In the hands of Noel Fehily, he did well by all means. In front of Royal Ascot’s exciting crowd, Greenlaw could not make the best of starts. The Gardiner & Theobald Novices' Handicap Hurdle, however, saw him making progress after the eighth hurdle. Although
he stayed on one pace in the final stages, a consistent effort helped the big fellow seize the fourth place with ease.
A wonderful beginning of the new campaign must have boosted up his confidence to a great extent. So, the son of Helissio is highly likely to continue the progressive journey and take the honours in the Cheviot Asset Handicap Hurdle at Kempton on Monday,
November 26th.
The Mrs J. Cadzow-bred went on vacations after taking a close triumph at Towcester in June. In the Golden Horseshoe Casino Novices' Hurdle, the talented runner justified his highest odds of 8 to 13, and ran brilliantly throughout. The margin of success was
not big though. Under A. P. McCoy, Greenlaw claimed the first place only by a short head’s distance.
Having made a decent comeback at Ascot, the bay gelding is all set for the big prize. According to our calculations, the bettors must not overlook his chances in today’s contest, which has attracted a line-up of nine horses.
The schedule is to kick off the proceedings at 15:10 GMT. Over a distance of three miles and 110 yards, the contenders will compete for a prize of £2,599. The going is soft for the class 4 contest. Irish Chancellor is likely to be thereabouts, after making
a fair comeback lately.
Arkose made his seasonal comeback on a winning note, and looks all set for more. A 10lb rise, however, is a worry. As per our predictions, a close battle is likely between Arkose and Greenlaw. Since the former is upped 10lb, the vote goes to Greenlaw. Good
luck to both of them.
