Upcoming Wolfenstein game to prove extremely challenging on highest difficulty level – Gaming news
The senior gameplay designer at Machine Games Andreas Ojerfors has claimed that the highest difficulty level in Wolfenstein: The New Order will prove to be a real challenge for people.
“I Am Death Incarnate” difficulty option has been a regular feature of the franchise, giving experienced players an opportunity to put their skills to test.
The game’s developer has stated that this time around, the challenge that players will come across while playing the game on maximum difficulty will make them “cry blood.”
Ojerfors conceded that the studio had designed Wolfenstein: The New Order with advanced difficulty in mind.
He went on to add that despite the increase in the level of difficulty, the game will still give players the option to choose from five difficulty levels, as was the case with the previous titles in the series, in order to make the game more accessible.
“We want it to be a real, real challenge for people. This is not an easy game,” Ojerfors said. “Of course we have the five difficulty levels of the original Wolfenstein 3D, like everything from Daddy Can I Play? to I Am Death Incarnate. So you can turn it
down or turn it up if you want to. But like the default, normal setting of the game, it's going to be a challenging experience.”
Commenting further on the “I Am Death Incarnate” difficulty option and the challenge that it would present, the senior game designer explained that the experience has been designed in such a way that it remains fair to the players.
“It's difficult, but it's always fair,” Ojerfors said. “You're never really cheated. It's always your fault if you die.”
Even though the studio working on the latest title in the Wolfenstein franchise is presenting the highest difficulty level is something that would have even the most experienced players pulling their hair out in frustration, it is yet to be seen if the game
and the challenge that it promises to offer will live up to the hype.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is scheduled to release in the final quarter of 2013 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
