  1. I think you should play a year of JV first. You might find out the coach will help you get your serve down. You won't have it down by the end of camp...it takes a lot of practice. Also if you're just a freshman and all you've played is middle school volleyball, varsity volleyball i a lot more upbeat and faster. So I'd go for the JV because you'll be able to be with your friends and plus you'll learn all the things you need to learn.

  2. stick to jv. you'll get more playing time. not gonna lie, in high school, a girl who didn't have a strong, consistent overhand serve didn't even make the frosh/soph team.

  3. I say, go 4 it, girl! If u think that u can do it, and u have enough self-confidence to want to try out even though ur friends aren't, I think u should do it. And if u don't make it, u can still say that u tried!! Hope this helps!

P.S.-When I played volleyball, my overhand wasn't down pact either! =)

  4. i think just stay in jv because you can get better on jv. Also  if you make varsity and you are better than other people on varsity, the other girls will get mad and pick on you because they are jealous...

  5. u really need to get ur overhand serve down because all varsity players usually serve like that but if that camp does help u out then u should try out for the varsity team.

    good Luck

  6. Umm no. you're definitely not going to make it if you've only been playing for two years and if you don't have your overhand serve down, that won't even get you on freshman!!

hate to break it to you honey!

  7. i would recommend JV b/c you not only have to compete with freshman but you also have to compete with returning upperclassmen that are gonna be more skilled than you

star with JV and work your way up to varsity

unless your school has VERY few girls trying out for volleyball...i would stick to JV

  8. I'll say you try out for jv because if you are really good they'll bump u to jv. Thats what happen to my friend and she was a freshman. If you don't have your overhand serve down by tryouts, I would say u still try out for jv. Overhand serves really helps to make the varsity team.

  9. nah you suck. youll make varsity as a senior and sit the bench.

  10. you have to go out for JV, if ur really good at JV u'll be moved up to varsity. but varsity as a freshman is ridonculous

  11. I say: DO IT! What is it you don't like about the coach? You can't let bad coaches get to you, and if you stay positive, he might like you (and let you play more)!  You sound like you've got pretty good skills, and are eagerly working towards getting better so I don't see why not.

  12. When it come to volleyball there is no substitute for HARD WORK.  You have to want it.  You have to be ready to dive for the ball.  You have to hit the ball to the other side of the net.  Try to hit it to where the other team ISN'T so that it drops.  If you have the GUTS and want the glory of winning and you think you can hit the ball to the other side where the other team isn't, then, by gum, I think you will make it.  Good luck.

  13. I think you should go with JV because I was and upcoming freshman last year (i'll be in 10th grade this year) and I had really bad coaches 7th and 8th grade year and I did not learn a thing until I got to JV. It helped a lot even since I liked the coach but she picked favorites and I hated that. It helped me a lot and I played only about 4 game with the JV and then played Varsity the rest of the season. So, if you practice hard enough and want it bad enough you will make JV probably as a freshman and then if the coach helps you a lot then maybe you will get bumped up to varisty. You just need to keep trying and trying and trying and working on the techniques and the skills that the coaches at camp are going teach you and keep working on the skills that you old coaches gave you. Hope it all goes well for you! Good Luck!

    later♥

    P.S.

Varsity as a freshman is very hard trust me so if you want to make that big of a comittment then you should make varsity if you deserve it. Keep practicing!!

  14. If you can't serve overhand theres no way you'll ever get play in varsity. Stay on JV this year and learn the skills you need to be a strong varsity player.

Look at it this way, if you make varsity, you'll sit the bench and never get a chance to get any better.

If you play JV you'll excel because you're probably better than most people and you'll get more playing time. Then, in a year or so you'll be on varsity and wont have to sit the bench.

  15. tryout for both?! or if you really dont like the coach...varsity all the way!

  16. If you are a freshman, definitely go for JV.  You will have time to work on your skills and get respect from the coaches. If they feel you are ready for Varsity and have earned a position there, I'm sure they will move you up.  You also need to think about the girls that are older than you.  Will the sophomores and juniors give you a harder time because you are trying pass up JV?  You have to EARN your place on the Varsity team.  Take your time, and show them what you are capable of.

  17. stick w/ jv...i did varsity and broke my ankle first 10 min of the game when i landed on someone's foot...

not saying that'll happen but u get more time w/ jv

  18. do what you want to do. dont fall into peer preasure. if you want to be on the team with your friends try out. and if you dont make it thats ok then you wont have the coach you dont like.

  19. YES!!!!!!! go and sigh up. it could help you later on in school. You could make friends and if there are any,PARTIES. help the team go for gold. so what about the coach. just ignore the insults and foucuss on what he  is trying to teach you. i think you should  go for varsity because to help u make new friends.your friends now arent going to the same place ur going to next year.

  20. If your serious about volleyball, no coach will stop that because if your good enough to play, a grudge will not stop him or her from putting you in the game to Win. As for your friends, Varsity and JV travel Together, Period. Take it from someone who's been there, done that. I came in as a freshmen, had NEVER played before, and after my summer pre-season, made it to varsity, and got alot of playing time. In most schools however, you can play JV and get some Varsity time. Here I am, 5 years later playing Division 2 Volleyball, and I STARTED as a FRESHMEN at the COLLEGE level. So everyone else who says its impossible and for you to back down from Wanting something, can p**s off because if your willing to work your @ss off for this, you deserve nothing but the best. GOODLUCK<3

  21. It sounds like you need a season of JV to better your skills.   And how do you know you don't like the coach?   Sometimes you need to give something a try before you form an opinion.   Word of advice - be an overachiever - don't give the coach a reason not to like YOU.   Hustle all the time - ask questions - don't talk when the coach is talking - be respectful.  Work hard and make an effort to be better each time you leave the gym then what you were when you got there that day.   Camp is great but you need to work on your skills every day to become good.  If you want to be a good player, its all up to you.

  22. first of all dont just go out w/ the attitude i dont like that coach with that attitude it wont get you any where. second it is always fun to have your friends on the team with you so i think you should try out it will be fun. usually most camps are good especially the colleges holding camps so i think you may get some good pointers, but if not dont panic if your overhand still doesnt look good go to plan b play libero they dont have to serve. hope i helped. good luck

  23. Go for the JV team, the girls goin out for varsity will tear you up...Just keep workin on your serve out and in front of you and up

  24. go with the jv your friends will be with u and they will help u deal with the coach 1 year of jv and u might be able to try out for the varsity and make it if you dont like it after you have given the coach a chance he might be a better coach than you think

  25. if you think your good enough to make varsity go for it! but if you think you might not....go for JV

  26. Go for it, Tiger!  Try out for the Varsity Volleyball Team.

  27. You should go with varsity, since you already had 2 years in with. Try something different.
