Upcoming tournament on Symetra Tour – Eagle Classic
The next event of the Symetra Tour is just around the corner and the entry list shows that players are very excited about it.
Eagle Classic is a relatively recent event that was started in 2008. The event has a colourful history, with winners coming from all over the world.
The tournament itself has undergone changes in the name and major sponsors. The 2010 edition was played under the name “Greater Richmond Golf Classic”.
In the April of 2011, it was announced that Eagle Companies, the well known real estate developers and investment firm, has expressed an interest in the tournament and will now be the major sponsor of the event.
Last year, the tournament was fiercely contested and drew almost all the top players on the Symetra Tour. The winner was the American player Mo Martin, who is a pro golfer of some repute.
She maintained a three-stroke lead over the competition and won after a tough fight. She scored 203 points.
This year, the event will be held at the beautiful Richmond Country Club. This course is considered to be among the best golf courses in the region.
The players will have a great time playing the event here as the course offers an excellent mix of scenery and challenging holes.
The format is 54-holes, which is the standard format for all the tournaments of the Symetra Tour. This format is a great opportunity for the players to offer their best, without trying themselves out. Another advantage is the fact that the players get a
taste of what a pro event feels like.
The importance of Symetra Tour cannot be overstated. It is considered the training tour where the best players learn the ropes and polish their game.
LPGA uses the Tour as a training tour and the players who finish it with honours are automatically inducted into the LPGA with a full card.
This year, Eagle Classic will prove to be as exciting as the last year’s event. The entry list shows that almost every good player has signed up for the event. Let us hope that fans witness some great golf moments at the Richmond Country Club.
