I know fuel costs have gone up, but this took place about 20 years ago. They asked over our TV to cut back, to turn light off and so on, because it was so hot out, then they raised the rates, saying they wern't selling enought elctric. So why should I try now? They'll just jack up the rates again!

  1. Yes,I lived through that too.

  2. I think conserving energy is a good deed to contribute to environment protection. Regardless how they regulate the rates of electricity, try to use the least electricity at your home has done your share in your society. I think you can complain to the utility companies regarding above-described how contradict it is by telling the consumers to cut back turn the lights off but saying that are not selling enough electricity, and raised the rates. You should organize the residents in your local communty to sign a petition and hand it to the chairman of the electric company and your local politician representing all the local residents. He or she will talk to the electric company's rates administration and bargain for lower the rates. You can complain this to media and local government, too. This will become a win-win outcome.

  3. yes, it is not fair to raise prizes in the name of conservation!

  4. Energy Rates are a political commidity manipulated by corporations and politicians.  You and I will never have any impact on rates or fees charged.

However, we all have control over the amount of energy we consume.

We all make choices every day that can increase or decrease our energy costs and  impact on the environment.

By making yourself more "efficient" you will eventually reduce your costs both financially and enviro-wise.

Many people find it easy to make "themselves" more efficient by making our home, cars, jobs, posessions more efficient.  Then the rest falls into place.

Once we all conserve in our personal life and work life, then the politicians and corporations will have far less control over us.
