I'm not aware of any way to make good solar panels at home, even if you already have the solar cells.

But I think it will be like computers.  Virtually no one ever actually soldered parts onto boards to make their own PC, yet they became cheap enough that no one would ever consider making their own, now.  Search the internet, I think you'll see panel prices have lowered slightly, and I also think this trend will continue.
