Updates from WWE NXT: Lucky Cannon Eliminated; 5 Rookies left
It was a wild night in NXT as rookies competed for the chance of a lifetime. The winning rookie of NXT wrestling challenge 2 had the chance to fight any WWE Champion at a pay-per-view and receive the spotlight that comes along with it. It was the night when the polling closed and votes were counted to issue a new ranking of rookies. It was imperative for the NXT rookies to impress the wrestling fans and WWE pros in order to stay in the fight at the end of the day. Before the polling got closed, it was announced that all six rookies will compete in a 3-on-3 Tag Team Match. Kaval teamed up with ‘Showtime’ Percy Watson and Lucky Cannon to fight against the tag team of Husky Harris, Alex Riley and Michael McGillicutty.
It was an interesting match, as almost everyone disregarded the rules of professional wrestling. The rookies did this because they wanted to win the match at all costs. Lucky Cannon impressed the wrestling fans during the match when he ran in the ring to built momentum and then jumped in the air to land on Alex Riley outside the ring. It was one h**l of a jump, and it helped his team win the match later.
However, it was Kaval who took the gold as he executed his unique but highly effective wrestling finisher on the second generation wrestler, Michael McGillicutty. During his unique finishing manoeuvre, Kaval climbs the top turn buckle in any ring corner. Then he jumps even higher in the air and lands with his shoes on the chest of his opponent. No one in NXT has ever kicked out of this wrestling finisher. Michael McGillicutty was no exception, and Kaval went for the cover and the referee counted to three to finish the long and brutal fight of the rookies. The team of Kaval, ‘Showtime’ Percy Watson and Lucky Cannon raised their hands as the legitimate winners of the match.
It was time to issue the new ranking, which was compiled after counting the votes of wrestling fans and WWE pros. Everyone was on their feet to see the number one wrestler in the ranking. The long wait finally ended when it was announced that the veteran fighter Kaval topped the list. Kaval was followed by Michael McGillicutty, ‘Showtime’ Percy Watson and Husky Harris respectively. Husky improved his rankings considerably, as he was ranked number seven a couple of weeks back. Now the competition was between The Miz’s rookie Alex Riley and Mark Henry’s rookie Lucky Cannon. It was important to receive the 5th position as a 6th position meant the end of a wrestling career at NXT.
Emotions were running high and both Alex Riley and Lucky Cannon were nervously looking around at their fans and the WWE pros. The Miz was even more nervous than Alex Riley, as he did not want anyone to say that he was not a good coach. The dream of a rookie was about to be shattered and there was near silence in the arena as fans waited for the results. Then it was time for the big news and it was announced that Lucky Cannon received the 6th position and was eliminated from NXT.
His dream of becoming the next breakout star of NXT was broken as he shook hands with all the rookies and the WWE pros and walked outside of the arena. It was announced that next week, wrestling fans will witness two consecutive eliminations. The competition is tough as 5 remaining rookies will battle for one position in the coming weeks and will give it their all to impress the fans. But when the dust settles, there will be one and only one who will fulfil his dream to become the next breakout star of WWE.
