Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis to play together in 2011 ABN-Amro competition
The retired doubles pair of Paul Haarhuis and Jacco Eltingh will play next year for a short reunion during February next year at the ABN-Amro competition. The contest will be conducted in Rotterdam in order to raise funds for the Richard Krajicek Foundation.
Richard is a former professional tennis contender from Netherlands and is the director of the ABN-Amro competition.
Jacco and Paul during their careers from 1991 to 1998 played together as a pair and picked up 39 double titles on the tour.
Ana Ivanovic appoints new coach on temporary basis
The Serbian tennis ace Ana Ivanovic has appointed Antonio van Grichen as his new coach on trial basis in order to start her 2011 season on a high at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
The former world number one had been playing under the coaching supervision of Heinz Gunthardt however, Heinz was not ready to work as her full time coach as it also requires a lot of travelling throughout the season and therefore parted ways with Ana.
The 23-year-old Ana, who turned professional in 2003, is currently ranked number seventeen in the world. The right-hander managed to improve her rankings due to her success at the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions in Bali in October.
The Basel resident, who achieved her career highest ranking of number one back in 2008, has previously worked with Coach Craig Kardon, Mats Merkel, Sven Groeneveld as well as Darren Cahill.
She has so far won a total of ten WTA single crowns in her career. Her other achievements include thrashing out Dinara Safina to pick up the French Open title at Roland Garros back in 2008. Ana was also a runner up at French Open three years ago and Australian
Open in 2008.
Van Grichen, her new coach, is most popular for improving the game of Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka who under his guidance jumped as high as number six in the world rankings. Moreover, Grichen also worked for small period with Alize Cornet,
Vera Zvonareva as well as Sorana Cirstea of Romania.
Last year in December, Victoria and Vera changed coaches for some time however, the Russian tennis ace Vera faced immense difficulty and failed to work with Victoria’s coach for long. The right hander is famous for having fallen down in tears and gesturing
towards Sumyk halfway through a clash between her and Victoria in Dubai.
Just a few months later, Vera parted ways with van Grichen at the Indian Wells event and made an announcement that she will play on the tour without any coach.
However, the Russian at last appointed her former doubles partner Serget Demekhin as her coach. Serget, ever since his appointment as Vera’s coach has worked extremely hard and helped the Russian a great deal without any question in making her way to the
number two spot in the WTA rankings.
As far as Ana is concerned, her first test run with her new coach will begin at next month’s Hopman Cup to be held in Perth, Australia. She along with world number three Novak Djokovic will represent Serbia. Ana will take on Yaroslava Shvedova where as Novak
meets Andrey Golubev for their opening match-ups.
After Hopman Cup, the Serbian will play at the 2011 Australian Open in Melbourne where she last year could not go beyond the second round.
