2011 Brisbane International: Andy Roddick sails into semis
The professional tennis ace Andy Roddick from the United States of America got the better of Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus in two sets at the 2011 Brisbane International on Thursday. The final match score was 6-2, 6-3. The battle concluded in a time period of seventy four minutes.
The American, as a result of this victory, has also stormed into the semi-final round in Brisbane. Roddick posted his career best result in the event back in 2010 in his debut appearance where he finished as champion.
In his Thursday’s match against the Cypriot, the 28-year-old Roddick showed his excellent form as well as clear intentions to start the 2011 season on a high. He has been working extremely hard in training and practice sessions since December to prepare for the year’s opening Grand Slam, the Australian Open in Melbourne.
He will take on Kevin Anderson from South Africa in the semi-final match on Friday to book his place in the title battle. Hard hitting Kevin made his way into the final four round after thrashing out Santiago Giraldo of Colombia in three sets. The final score line was 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. He fired a total of twelve aces while getting past Giraldo.
Anderson is currently enjoying a descent run of form on the tour and therefore he won’t be an easy opponent to beat for the American.

Novak started off the match strongly and quickly secured a lead of 3-0 which the right hander maintained till the end to wrap up the first set at 6-3. He continued his dominance in the decisive set as well and thus sealed his win in the end.
Earlier in the day, former world number one Justine Henin of Belgium dispatched off Ana Ivanovic from Serbia in the round robin clash in two sets. The final score line was 6-4, 6-3.
