i want to update my red and white health card to a photo i.d. health card because i do not have a license or other i.d. does it cost anything to upgradeyour health card if you bring in your old one?

  1. No it does not.  However the photo health cards expire and must be renewed.

    Have you thought about getting a citizenship card?


  2. Depending on why you need id, an age of majority card might also be helpful.  You can get applications for that at any LCBO.

  3. Look in the phone book blue pages for the Ontario Ministry of Health.  They have a special number for health cards.  Since you didn't say which province you live in I assumed it was Ontario.  Most of the old red and white ones have been replaced so they may agree to switch you over.  The problem you may have is that since it is illegal to ask anyone for their health card unless it's for medical purposes most places won't even look at one.  Not very good for ID because anyone copying the information on it is breaking the law.  MissPriss suggested a citizenship card.  I didn't know you could just get one, but it sounds like a good idea.  Good luck!!
