Upgrade patch for VS80sp1-KB926601-X86-ENU vs2005...

Question

when i install VS80sp1-KB926601-X86-ENU (vs2005) on vista the following msg is shown about upgrade patch:-

"The upgrade patch cannot be installrd by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, ao the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."

I have tried all my best and I have uninstalled it many times and reinstalled it many times. but then also the same result.

Or tell me whether I have done a mistake purchasing vista laptop.
