Question:

Upgrading DirecTV to HD??

I don't want to pay $200 plus a $19.95 service call to do it. I have the service protection plan also and still have to pay that and I don't agree with that. Any suggestions on how to upgrade cheaper? I need HD DVR also.

  1. ... or tell them you will switch to Dish, which is they're closest competitor, to see if they'll give you a deal.  They usually have ways to give discounts, but you have to ask, I've found - they don't always just volunteer the discount.

  2. Tell them you are going to switch to cable and maybe they will make you a deal.

  3. There really isnt one. Your not a new subscriber so there is now reason to give you a break. Im not trying to come across like a jerk face Im just telling how theyre going you how theyre gonna see it. When your a new cx they will do anything to get you to buy in including free boxes, free hook up, trials on premium channels. Being an exisiting cx your already there. The boxes are 2 bills the service call is the same. The only way to save and only the $20 service call on the NON DVR BOX is to put the box in on the exisiting direct line yourself. For the dvr you have to have direct come out because they need to run another line to that boxes area because it has 2 tuners on it. Sorry bud
