Upgrading a flight?

Hey there, well in 2 weeks exactly today, I am flying to Barbados with my 12 year old daughter (my husband can't come, has to stay at home for work sadly) and he didn't want me and our daughter to miss out on our summer holiday because of him. So, we have booked our hotel, flights and everything and we are currently flying with Economy (from Gatwick airport, London) We think it's worth asking about upgrading to Premium Economy on the day once we have arrived at the airport, but not sure how much this will cost us. Anyone know about asking to be upgraded?

Any help will be great, thanks!

My Mum wrote this by the way :]

  1. Call the airline And ask them. i fly airtran in the US and it is a $69.00 per person each way charge to upgrade. However it is well worth it to me  being crammed in the back of the plane with screaming kids is not my cup of tea..

You can also ask at the airport but sometimes they have none cause everyone already called in to upgrade.

Good luck Have a safe trip

  2. Premium economy often sells out and some airlines give the seats to elite members of their frequent flyer program. If it is available, sometimes airlines will give you a better price when you check-in than if you upgraded your seat in advance. I can't say what the price will be, but you can get an idea what the maximum price is if you look online to see what the difference is between premium economy and regular economy on your airline's website or try giving them a call.

    Good luck.

  3. Generaly there is no problem to upgrade but sometimes it will be too expensive. All companies are different so the better is to ask your company.
