i don't have much on my hard drive (mostly documents & photos) & i have lots of memory.

  1. well even though there is nothig wrong with Vista its not ment for older hardware so get XP you should beable to find in online i suggest www.newegg.com i would get the full version and not an upgrade otherwise when you go to do a fresh install its a real pain. i think you can still choice to upgrade so you won't lose anything but you should always backup your stuff before any major system change so save you docs and pics to something. other then that its simple

However I'd say that atleast a pentium 4 1Ghz, 256 MB RAM & 20 GB HDD is what would be required. If you have the XP retail CD, go ahead, DIY.. worst case scenario? You'll have to call that tech to fix, You have no data to save.. right? & if you do it yourself, you'll probably be better off as you might have to repeat this several times.

I'd also suggest to Download a good Anti (virus & Spyware) program/s  & burn them on a disc So when you install OS, you install them first thing after you boot. Also get all the MS updates, this will take time, even on a decent broadband connection.

What I'd suggest is, Burn a copy of Kubuntu Live CD, which lets you feel how linux would feel on your system, W/O actually installing it. If you like it, go with it as it uses much less resources than XP. not to mention that its free

  3. YOU CAN DO IT BUT I WOULD GET XP I HAVE VISTA BUT XP IS MORE RELIABLE... IF U DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT COMPUTERS THAN HAVE A PRO DO IT.... HOPE THIS HELPS
