Upgrading laptop processor?

I want to get a better processor for my laptop but I don't know too much about upgrading this type of hardware. I have an HP Compaq 6715b with an AMD Mobile Sempron Processor. Would I be able to upgrade this laptop to an AMD Mobile Turion 64 x2 processor? How can I tell if I can or not? Thank you!

your laptop mobo is supposed to have the AMD 690T chipset, which does support the Turion 64x2.  If you want to be sure just download CPU-Z and run it, and see if it confirms that it has the 690T chipset. If it does, you should be able to upgrade, but if you've never opened up a laptop you might want to take it to a service depot, especially if it is still under warranty.
