Upgrading power supply?

Question

I have a gateway fx7026 and it came stock with a weak 400w psu. I have had problems with random blue screens and crashes.

specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 / 2.5 GHz 64 bit

4 GIG Ram, 8 GIG max 667mhz

2 x 320 GB - Standard - Serial ATA-300 - 7200 rpm

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB

PCI-e tv tuner

what would be a good power supply to upgrade to?

Uses an ATX form factor power supply. The CoolerMaster in your link, is a ATX form factor power supply. Should be no prob! Here's an in-depth review on the CoolerMaster Extreme Power 650,

I've no intention of following your stated url. If you cannot be bothered to retrieve the info from it and post it why should i , or anybody else. Try a 600watt Psu

I think that supply would be fine.Just make sure that it gives >26 A on the 12 V rail .i have a similar setup and i have a Cooler master 650 and it works fine.If you have more money,go for a better supply(more wattage).because giving a 700+ supply 60% load is safer than giving a 650 supply 80% load.A supply takes power only when it needs to so 700+ supply is not going to give you a higher bill
