  1. Actually while US requirements indicate that the child is elligible to be a US citizen upon landing in the US if the adoption is final in the country of the child birth. Not all countries complete the adoptions within the childs birth country and you are required to do the adoption in the US.  Most countries however complete the adoptions in the birth country and provided both parents have meet the child and agree to the adoption if is done then.

I know several military families who stop in Hawaii on their way to Europe to get their childrens citizenship before returning to their place of deployment. if they did not make that stop their child would not be considered a US citizen until they step onto US soil.

  2. Internationally adopted children automatically become citizens upon entry into the United States, as long as the child was seen by both parents (if there are two parents!) in his or her own country.   If one parent does not travel, or if the child was escorted to the U.S., then the adoption must be made legal in the United States before applying for citizenship.

  3. they are us citiaens once they enter country and can be readopted in states to get a s birth certifiate

  4. All of my siblings became citizens when they landed in the states.
