  1. Hit Ctrl, Alt and Delete. That brings up Task Manager. Under the Processes Tab, look for "explorer.exe". If you do not see it, Click on the Applications tab and then hit New Task. A box will pop up that you can type in. Type in explorer.exe and then hit OK. This will bring up your desktop.

  2. Although I'm technologically ret#r##, I think you should do a system restore...

Well, when it comes up temporarily (ur desktop), do this:

    Start

    All programs

    Accessories

    System tools

    System Restore

Choose a point from the past before the problem occured...and it may work...I use it a lot.

Oh, and if you don't have the taskbar try the windows symbol at the top of ur keyboard...

  3. I assume you are using Windows XP:

Restart your computer, using the power switch if you have to.

When it still booting up, tap the F8 key, thats the one above the digits row on the keyboard. You'll get a white-text on black background menu.

Use the up-and-down keys to select "Safe Mode". Press Enter.

Booting up Windows in "Safe Mode" will take longer, and the graphics will look big and terrible. But it should work.

Once you are on the desktop (the icons and task bar should return), go to the 'Start' button , choose 'All Programs' - 'Accessories' - 'System Tools', and click on 'System Restore'.

Follow the prompts to "turn back the clock" on your computer, choose a date a few days back before the problems first occurred.

Everything you installed in the last few days won't exist, chances are, one of them caused your problem.

  4. You can try this... Not sure if it will work..

Anyway, if you can, CTRL+ALT+DELETE, which brings up the task manager. Then goto file -> New task. Then in the textbox type EXPLORER.EXE (not sure if it's case sensitive, but type it in all caps just in case) and everything should come back up..

    Good luck
