Upper tension too loose

Question

Hi -

I have a PFAFF Creative 1467 I got from my mom when she passed away, so I'm not very familiar with this machine. I'm trying to run a straight line but the upper tension is super loose and I'm getting a kind of looping. I've tried adjusting all my settings but it doesn't change the stitch. There is no troubleshooting in the manual to help me out!

I'm sure it's something very simple but for the life of me I can't figure it out!
