  1. Charlie Trotter's!

  2. Perhaps not quite as upscale as you're looking for, but i highly recommend Hot Chocolate.  Wonderful food, great presentation, trendy, they also use a lot of local ingredients (regional cheeses, locally raised meat, etc.) so it might be a good spot for an out-of-towner to get a local taste.  If you aren't interested in dinner there, its also a wonderful dessert spot.

    Have fun in Chicago!

  3. Try Lawry's The Prime Rib.  Dress code is a bit more casual but is classy.  You can get out of the for about $150.  I haven't been to the Chicago location in years but the Beverly Hills features a fresh fish every night that is excellent.

  4. Personaly, I think Gibsons is the best steakhouse I have ever been to. It makes Mortons look like an outback. You can see their menu on line at gibsonssteakhouse.com. And, I really like their atmosphere. Another good place is Harry Caray's. Wildfire is fun also. They cook over a wood fire. It was started by Oprah but was taken over by a local group. Hope you have a great time in Chicago.

  5. There are soooo many fine dining options in Chicago but just a few I'd suggest are:

    Dleacost Rest & Lounge

    Japonias

I think those listed ^above are considered the Magnificant Mile area?? Either way that area is very nice

And of course the original N9NE Steakhouse

(this is the one (&GhostBar)in Vegas is themed after.)

You could also do an Odessy Dinner Cruise and you can't do dinner in Chicago with out going to the

Signature Room on the 95th floor of Hancock Bldg

    *Another add

You must also try Vosges Haut Chocolate There are only a few boutiques in the country Chicago, SoHo & Vegas. I don't remember whichlocal in Chicago (or if they even do any longer) but the had a little cafe where as you could drink the exotic hot chocolate & have foods in addition to just buying the truffles & such on there own.

I'm not much of a chocolate person but this place has me hooked!
