Upshift and downshift in Motogp?

Question

I've seen many times in Motogp that riders downshift using foot only and upshift using the hand clutch only.

Is this true or my eyes are deceiving me?

Generally, in riding, u use clutch for both upshift and downshifts.

For normal track riding/racing for production bikes, clutch is only used for downshifts. Upshifts there are 2 ways. First, slightly close throttle, upshift and wide open throttle. No clutch is used. Second method is use of quick shifter. U dun have to play with throttle at all. As u try to upshift with gear lever, there will a be sensor(quickshifter) which will detect pressure, which will r****d ur ignition for milliseconds and gear goes up in place.

MotoGP, all upshifts are with quickshifters. Downshifts, they can choose not to use clutch. As there is slipper clutch as well as traction control.

Slipper Clutch prevents rear wheel lockup under heavy downshifting.

Traction Control electronically controls and prevents the rear wheel from spinning faster than the front.

Nearly right.

All gear changes are made with the left foot, but the MotoGP riders dont need the clutch on up changes.

They do use the clutch to downshift, as this allows the slipper clutch to kick in and help with engine breaking.

The left hard clutch lever alone cant change the gears.
