Question:

Upside down playpen outside?

i want to take my hamster outside so it could play in the grass for a little bit but i dont want him to run away..so i thought that i could take one of my kids old play pens and turn in upside down outside that way they could play in the grass but not escape..does that sound like a good ideal..let me no if theres anything wrong with that..

oh and of course ill have my eyes on them the whole time..

  1. I like the idea.  A couple things to consider, when you turn the play pen upside down could he possibly squeeze under?  How do you plan to catch him when you are ready to bring him inside?  Mine like to make a run for freedom so I needed a small fence with a gate.

    Make sure that it doesn't get too hot or cold.  I've heard of animals being put outside with a covering and they got too hot and died.


  2. It seems to be a good idea.However I personally never let my hamsters on grassy areas since they have a high probability of having some insects or mites get into their lush fur and irritate them.But that is solely upto your discretion, otherwise the playpen is a great idea.

  3. It seems like a fine thing to do, if you're watching them. My dad does that with the ferret, and I'll take one of my cats out with me sometimes as well (they are strictly indoors cats).
