Diplomatic immunity means you're a representative of your country in regards to foriegn affairs..ie an ambassador..there are othr types of of immunity including politcal asylum which you can get by claiming to be victimized by your government

I suppose you mean obtaining. Obtaining it in the US would have to mean that you're a diplomat of another country, such as an ambassador. I'm not exactly sure it works the same way as it did in Lethal Weapon 2, as it was a fictional movie.

The only way to obtain diplomatic immunity is to be named or appionted as an ambasador or other high ranking consular official.
