  1. This is a strange question - 4GB is a quantity of storage, which will give you a quantity of songs. If you use MP3, you can set lower quality so that the quantity goes higher (so a 1GB file will be reduced, but the quality is a little lower). For most people 128kb/s is good, but you can go lower and get more music per GB. Also you have to consider the length of the tracks - there is little point in calculating an 'average' length of a song, because this will not really apply.

In my computer, using Rhythmbox I can see that my music folder containing podcasts, and music, and documentaries - contains 3342 files, that will play for 10 days, 8 hours and 18 minutes. The total size so far is 12.7GB. Using this as a base, divide the information by 12.7GB and multiply by 40...

40GB - 10525 files - 33 days (continuous play - or 99 days if you limit yourself to 8 hours per day).

Included in my songs list is 'best of pink floyd' as a single track, which is 1 hour 16 minutes long - so maybe our numbers are not so accurate. It's a lot though.

I would definitely suggest that you get a few podcasts on there for when you don't want to listen to music - like the one pasted below (Comic strip live - Stand up comedy) or Friday night comedy. I always put a few in my phone when I'm off on a long trip somewhere!
