A tale of two Shanes.

Favourite fast bowler: Shane Bond. Incredible pace, accuracy and swing and often single-handedly kept NZ in a game with the ball. He holds the record for the best strike rate (27.5) in ODI's and has the third best average (19.32). In Tests, limiting the statistics to player who have bowled at least 2000 balls, his Test strike rate, (38.9), currently ranks fourth in the all-time list and his average (22.39) currently sits at number 40. Amongst current players who have bowled over 2000 balls in Tests, only Stuart Clark, Muttiah Muralitharan and Dale Steyn have better averages.

His spells against Australia were particularly impressive: On 26 January 2002, Shane Bond bowled New Zealand to victory over Australia, getting 5/25. In the Cricket World Cup, Bond achieved 6/23 again against Australia (New Zealand's best bowling performance in ODIs at the time) - which including being on a hat-trick after getting Damien Martyn and Brad Hogg in consecutive deliveries.

Favourite Spinner: Shane Warne: Single-handedly revived the art of leg-spin bowling; rightful holder of the record for most Test wickets (Murali is a chucker in my opinion), and his off-field controversies only add to the aura about him. A great character and one the five greatest cricketers ever (according to Wisden and me).
