Urgent Brakes Question! Please Help!?

Okay...86 olds delta 88. It had been sitting for 2 years. I had NO front brakes whatsoever. I just replaced the front pads (which were gone) and calipers (which were both froze). I was all set and ready to bleed...

Passenger side worked great, then I notice the caliper isn't closing on the driver's side. I pull the brake line off and NO FLUID is coming out!

Upon further investigation, every time my girlfriend pumped the brakes, a stream would shoot right out of the brake fluid reservoir (where you fill the fliud). It was a shooting stream, pissing straight up, each time the breaks were pumped.

By the way, I am a novice, and this was my first attempt at a brake job (because I am practically broke, and can't afford to take it to a shop). So, that being said...am I just looking at rplacing a piece of the driver side's brake line? Any troubleshooting suggestions? Or a 'definate' conclusion?? I noticed part of the brake line is rubber, and it connects to metal...????

  1. The brake hose(rubber part connecting to caliper could be collapsed) but not likely, the stream shooting up out of the resivior is normal, put the cap on. Bleed that caliper presistently until you do get fluid, it will eventually work its way out.......

  2. lol I am already waire your a novice by the fluid stream statement. you should always keep the cap on the brake master cylinder (resevoir) the trick to bleeding the brakes is as follows. start from the brake furthest from the master cylinder. using the bleeder s***w on the rear of the caliper put a wrench on it and install a clear plasic tube on the rounded tip of the bleeder. the hose needs to be lond enough to put in a clear container. in the container pour a few inches of fresh brake fluid to cover the end of the hose. have the helper pump the brake five times and hold the brake to the floor as best possible. you open the bleeder s***w and watch for bubbles in the container. have the person tell you when it hits the floor(the pedal) resnug the bleeder and pump again, repeat process till no bubbles flow , recheck the level in the resevior , top and do the other side the same way. you should be ready to go.
