Hi, i have the flu or something right now, so i have headache, earache, blocked nose, and because of the flu, it has provoked my (normally controllable) asthma. I have just taken 6 puffs of my ventolin inhaler which has taken the edge off my wheeziness, however im still wheezing a little (compared with before, i was whistling like a teapot lol). I hear my heartbeat pounding in my head like a pendulum, and i noticed it was very strong and fast, so i timed it for 10 seconds, then timed it by 6, and i got 138 bpm!!!! I havent been doing anything strenouous (obviously coz i have the flu). Temp is 36.9 celsius. So i just wanted to know, at what point should i be concerned and consider seeking medical attention?????

Please help.....

  1. Ok, when you take albuterol...aka ventolin, your heart rate increases... but most flu medication increase your blood pressure. Not good to combine medications....My suggestion is to call 911 and go to the hospital to make sure your blood pressure is ok with all of the medications and sickness... good luck.

  2. your heart rate is elevated because you used too much ventolin, that is one of the side effects of that drug.
