Urgent!!! How can I get along with his kids!!?

I am 25 he is 38. He has two older kids one is 19 year old boy, and the other one is a 14 year old girl. I'm meeting them for the first time. I'm so nervous. How can I get to be good friends with them. I'm a very kind, friendly, nice, person I love kids a lot. I am so nervous what do I do?

His kids are older kids so you don't have to be "cutesy" with them like smaller children. Remember to treat them with the respect their age calls for. don't act nervous around them, they pick up on that stuff. Just be normal like you are around him so they can see you are  like-able.

and my best advice is

1-recognise now that they are not kids as such, they are young individuals with their own minds

2-dont gooverboard being gushy

you will get an instant feel of how they feel, and that will give you a good guidline

they are probably feeling the same as you are, and thats what you have to remember, and dad will be feeling the most, he has all of you to juggle, its a huge moment, for all of you

dont be too full on or they will see you as fake and trying to get in their good books, relax, and be natural, and take the lead from them

I'd say first, not to go in trying to be their stepmom.  Just be their friend, but don't force it.  These are not little kids anymore.  They each have their own opinion.  They will let their dad know what they think of you.  Just be yourself.  Don't try to be different so you can get an approval from them on the first visit.  The boy is 19,so he's probably gonna be doing his own thing anyway.  The girl, a 14 year old, that's when they tend to be rebellious.  So just let her feel you on her own.

Been there, done that... the best thing to do is  just relax and be yourself. If their mom is in the picture somewhere, they would feel like they are betraying her if they get too friendly with you. Just let things develop slowly,
