I have to write an essay about,

"Why is the english language arts the most important subject"

What are some ideas I can write about regarding this topic.

This is what I have for now,

Without the basic understanding of English - in an English speaking environment, one would never be able to understand the basic concepts of reading and literacy, which would, in turn, cause the inability to learn math, history etc., which are all fundamentals in day to day life. Without knowledge of the English language, there would be no future in the arts such as literature, poetry, drama which would bring an end to novels, movies etc.

How can I make a presentable thesis for this?

Maybe you could discuss how English speaking people tend to have roots in the same/ similar culture going back many generations.  One of the ways to connect with our roots and to benefit from the wisdom of past generations is to ensure that we understand English in the context in which it was spoken / the evolution of teh English Language is merely a reflection of the evolution of the culture.  

Some examples to show "evolution":

Old days the phrase was "it struck me like a lightening bolt" - then they discovered and found a way to harness electricity and we started saying things like "having a light-buld moment".

Another bit of proof of evolution - how often do we use the term "text" as a noun and a verb?  Prior to text-messaging - "text" was NEVER used as a verb by the general population.
