Question:

Urgent feminine issue! Forgot about tampon!?

I can't believe I did this. I forgot to take out the last tampon I used on my period. It was discovered by my significant other approx. 10-12 days after my period was over. I am now experiencing a bloody discharge. I shouldn't receive my period again for another 10-12 days at the earliest. It'll be a couple days until I can get into a doctor. Is this just a bacterial infection or something more serious?

  1. ummm first off ewww.. but seriously the tampon was keeping all that in there so it has to come out and pulling out the tampon was like pulling the drain -so it could be nothing..... now if you get a fever -- cold chills - headaches -- bodyaches go to the dr immediatley(er) if you have to and tell them what happened....

  2. I did the same thing a couple of times but realized it within a couple of days. You could have an infection but my GYN doctor told me my body would 'flush' out the toxins (if any) naturally (if you get my gist).  I wouldn't worry too much.  You are lucky you can get to your doctor in a couple of days. I have to wait months! I would see what the doctor says.

  3. You should definitely see a doctor or something but don't worry because one of my friends did this and it wasnt untreatable.

  4. I did the same thing a few years ago and I didn't have any complications.

  5. I don't really know what to say, bloody discharge doesn't come up as a symptom of Toxic Shock Syndrome. I'm sure if it were more serious, he doctor would make an appt with you immediately or send you to the ER instead of seeing you at the office in a couple of days.

  6. believe me it happens all the time (I work at a hospital) The girls come in all freaked out but everything should be just fine. Just call your obgyn and tell her/him what happened and what is going on and they will tell you from there.

  7. Even though you will not see your doctor for another couple of days, you could discuss this issue with his nurse, especially if you are experiencing pain or fever.  Is the discharge different from your normal period?  good luck.
