Question:

Urgent help, I really need to talk to my professor... help?

I just read my professor's review on "rate my professor".

He got a 1.2 score out of 5, about 26 out of 30 hate comments saying that he was an horrible teacher. He supposedly fails everyone, assigns excessive amounts of homework, and goes out of his way to make sure that no one gets an A.

I'm so scared now, I honestly don't even know what to do. Class starts tomorrow, i've already paid for the class, i've already bought the book, and its way too late to even change my schedule. Should I talk to the teacher on the first day of school and tell him that I've heard that hes really hard? should I even mention that I read his ratings? or will this just put me in bad terms?

What should I do????

  1. It seems like you're screwed.

Don't talk to him about the ratings.

Since you can't drop it, it's best to go to class and do the work. But if this class' amount of work is too much and begins to jeopardize your other classes. I would just fail his class and do my best on the others. D: Sucky advice, but I'd rather fail 1 class than get like D's in all of them.

    Good luck.

  2. You shouldn't say anything to him, go to the class for yourself and see how you think. You can't go by the way things are rated online because everyone has a different opinion. 26 students out of probably 100's who have had him. You may walk in there and find him to be easy or enjoyable. Don't go jumping the gun because of things you read online, those could have all been F or D students. I think asking that the first day would definitely leave a sour taste in his mouth about you.

  3. Don't talk to him about something you read on ratemyprofessors.com. He's probably not as bad as you think. At my school a bunch of people got together and wrote bad reviews for this one professor so that no one took her so they COULD. Apparently there was one section they all really, really wanted. If it's really freaking you out, look for your schools add/drop period, they'll credit your account if you drop the course. And you can always sell the book back to your bookstore or on amazon.
