  1. When you think you want one, chew some gum. Mint gum was always what I used, and I quit after smoking for about 5 years. Just have the will power and tell yourself you don't want it, it's just the chemicals in the cigarette messing with your brain. Also, I found that practicing meditative breathing helped me get through the moments of craving - breathe in slowly for 4 counts, hold for 4, breathe out for 4, etc for a few times or more - that actually can help a lot for anxiety or to get control.

  2. You need a good, soild reason to stop.

I smoked for years, since I was 14 years old (yep, that young!).. Once my son was born, I stopped immediately - cold turkey and haven't went back to it. I don't even crave it any longer.. not because I wasn't addicted (because I most definitely was) but because my reason to stop was and is sooo strong, that it was enough in itself!

My son's life and health is more important to me than any addiction I have or ever have had.

I use to drink like a fish (major alchohol), smoke 1-2 packs of cigarettes per day, addicted to coffee and smoked out constantly with my (ex) pot-head friends.

ALL of that came to an immediate stop! I stopped drinking when I almost died from alcohol poisoning (drinking too much, too fast) years ago. I stopped smoking out years ago when another friend of mine died from his weed being laced with kitchen cleaner. And I stopped smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee when my son was born.

All of these were STRONG reasons to stop my addictions, and without experiencing the negative outcomes in life, I would have never stopped and would still be addicted to all of those things today.

So.. find a strong reason. Sometimes, a strong reason will find YOU.. and use that as your strength to quit. Until then, its EXTREMELY difficult to stop with no reason other than you simply 'know its bad for you'.. (that never works for anyone, sadly)

    Good luck sweetie <333

  3. omg the same thing happens to me but i try to resist and im 15 too. My sis 17 still smokes and i feel tempted but I try to stay away from her when she does. Just stay away from friends who smoke and control youself. it helps to have a motive too. Good luck =]

  4. SMOKING IS DISGUSTING. It not only taste bad but it makes your hair and clothes stink. I am saying all this as an ex smoker. I feel so much better now that I dont smoke. If your really that bad find help in your area. I quit cold turkey.

  5. Well done on trying to give up =]

Buy those nicorette patches or gum. Try searching on the internet some websites.

Remove all smoking related things in your house and tell your family and friends you are quitting and ask for support.

Ask a friend if they would like to quit also, so you can do it together.

If anyone offers one, just firmly say 'No'

Be strong. Survive the first week, and you're flying.

Another way to make you say off smoking; Print out pictures of a damaged lung or heart from smoking and stick it on you bedroom wall. That'll make you stay away from them.

  6. go to  rehab.

they have special programs. that aren't residential.
