  1. Well it depends on the make model of vehicle but if the key's materials its made up from contain metals then a magnet may cause the key to be pulled out.A very thin nail mite help to get it out too or sewing needles etc.

The thing about getting a key out is it can take a heck of a lot of patience and become extremely frustrating but I'm sure if you keep working on it you'll get it out eventually.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way I might be calling the dealerships customer service rep and asking if they've any ideas or suggestions but mainly to find out if the key needs to be in the ignition to remove the ignitions clynder bec maybe you might get the broken piece out better if the ignition clynder could be more accessable at hand.

  2. Here is an easy fix that has saved me on more than one occasion take the other half of the broken key apply a small amount of super glue GEL (you don't want it running onto the internal parts of the ign.) and press the key against the broken piece hold it as still as you can for at least one full minute longer if you can stand it then gently pull out.  If you can't get it out your going to have to replace the ignition drum.  Good luck.
