Urgent help!!! sick zebra finch?

hi

my female zebra finch is sick. she is puffed up and can only hop along the groud - she cant fly. she is so sick thats she alloud me to catch her. there are males and nesting boxed in the cage - could she just be eggbound?? please help what is wrong with her and what can i do thanks

She is very sick and may be eggbound which can be very dangerous if not deadly. Until you can get to vet seperate her from others and keep area she is in very warm and humid as this sometimes helps to pass egg. Put her food down low and her water. I dont reccomend you do this but if have to then see if you can see egg in vent if can dip a swab into mineral oil and insert in vent around egg very gently to see if can lubricate it so egg will pass. This is only if cannot get to vet asap or vet is closed.  Make sure keep warm and quite till get to vet . good luck to you.

catch the poor thing and take it to the avian vet . it needs an avian vet as we cannot possibly diagnose what is wrong with your finch . I have finches myself and if anything is wrong I take them to the avian vet .
