  1. Try and contact your state's appropriate department for that information or contact your nearest university and speak to someone in their meteorology department.  Someone there might be able to help you.  Hope you get the information you're looking for.

  2. Well..  you can look at the observations for a particular reporting station and in them they list the cloud types present at the surface.     Go to that site and enter the state and city you want to look up.    They will list clouds like this.

    KCHA 280253Z 13004KT 2SM -RA FEW020 BKN030 OVC060 17/16 A2995 RMK AO2 SFC VIS 7 SLP140 P0004 60007 T01670156 50003

KCHA = chatanooga..    you see few 020.  means scattered clouds at 2,000 ft..  broken clouds at 3,000 and Overcast at 6,000.    You can naturally assume that based on the fact you have light rain  (-RA) that your clouds are probably cumulus and the clouds at 6,000 are most likely stratocumulus.

the same site has information to decode these observations..

    Hope this has helped..

  3. go to weather.com and they have it there!!! all you have to do is type in your zip code and find the place
